Coming off the back of an impressive win against St. Edwards, our minor team headed into round 3 of the minor league full of confidence. Their opponents Leixlip on the other hand were coming down to Stephen O'Rourke Park with a point to prove as they were yet to win a game in Division 3.

Despite Leixlip's determination, Abbey Rangers went out in the first half with a point to prove, they were not the underdogs here. They racked up 1.11 in the first half thanks to a goal by Mickey Murphy and also some impressive free taking. Whilst at the other end of the pitch they managed to hold the opposition to 1.02 giving us a great advantage going into the second half.

When the lads came back out for the second half they continued their great form with some exquisite defending by Callum Grattan and Paddy Neary who were commanded from behind by their goalkeeper Jack O'Rourke. Mickey Murphy with 1.08 and Luke McKenna with 1.02 played a pivotal role in our road to success. Goals from Johnny Grace and Luke McKenna powered us over the line for an exceptional victory on a score line of 3.15 - 2.06.
