The U16 faced off against Milltown for Round two of the league today in very soft conditions.
It was the Abbey Rangers boys that opened the stronger registering 1-03 before Milltown opened their scoring. By running hard at Abbey Rangers, Milltown did find holes in the defence scoring 2-02 in quick succession during the second quarter.
At half time Abbey Rangers led 3-08 to 3-02 and after being in control for most of the first half, they had let Milltown back into the game.
The second half was much the same with the Abbey Rangers boys working very hard to win possession and control the game. Goals from Evan Brett, Callum Proctor and Kevin Nolan made life difficult for Milltown and saw Abbey Rangers pull away with a final score of 5-13 to 4-06.
On the day it was Alex Cullen that had a man of the match performance. He worked exceptionally hard winning several kick outs and launching attacks up the field. His tireless efforts to defend against Milltown were also displayed including a great block down that stopped a certain goal chance.
Great result for the boys who are looking forward to a home game against Confey on 30th March.
