The Moores came to Ballykelly for Thursday nights eagerly anticipated challenge match with a perfect record of 4 wins from games to sit atop of Division 2.

Our own lads were looking for a hard challenge to help them develop in their efforts to secure passage to the knock out stages of the league. They got it.

For the first 20 minutes the men in Maroon and green took the game to the visitors and went 0-4 to 02 at that stage. A couple missed goal opportunities that might have been scored on any other night proved to be costly as Moorfield upped the ante with a fine goal of their own to leave it 1-5 to 0-4 at half time.

This got the Newbdrige men’s tails up and they quickly added 3 goals and a couple of points in the first 15 minutes of the second half . Like last week our lads showed their measure by going up the other end of the field after each score to get their own on the board - a great trait for any team to have

This and a rocket of a goal from Luke Mc Kenna sparked us into action again and for the final 10 minutes we laid siege to the Moorfield goal. At least 6 goal efforts went narrowly wide or were well saved by their excellent goalkeeper.

There were too many heroic performances around the field to name them all and none of our players looked out of place at this level but special mention goes to Alex Conroy, Callum Grattan, Cillian Fitzgerald and our Midfield pairing of Jamie Delaney and Luke Mc Kenna for their never say die attitude.

it was a wonderful game and a big thank you to Moorfield for coming down.
