Confey who have had a difficult start to their campaign with 2 defeats made the long trip down on Saturday evening to face an Abbey Rangers team who are showing good form but are missing 5 of their starting panel to injuries.
The game opened at a frantic pace from both teams. Abbey Rangers registered 2 points before Confey responded with 3 points, the only time they would go ahead in the game.
Confey did contest very strongly for the first quarter but after 15 minutes Abbey Rangers were awarded a penalty for a trip on Evan Brett.
The penalty was slotted away by Devan Abbey and from the resulting kick out Devan Abbey popped up again to intercepted the ball scoring a second goal within a minute.
Throughout the first half Jack Fagan prevented multiple attempts from the Confey forwards through hard work and tough skilled tackles. Additional goals were scored in the first half by Dan Geoghegan and Adam Martin leaving the half time score at Abbey Rangers 4-07 to Confey 0-04
The second half saw Abbey Rangers introduce all of their substitutes who immediately had to contend with a reenergised Confey. Abbey Rangers again found their form particularly Jack Fagan who made life very difficult for Confey with several attacks launched from his position.
Further goals were added by the ever busy Alex Cullen and Tomas Dunne.
The final score ended Abbey Rangers 6-12 to Confey 0-07.
A particularly well done to Jack Fagan who gave a man of the match performance for Abbey Rangers.
