Despite going into the game down several regulars like Casey McEvoy, Jack Fitzpatrick and Julianne Moore, our 12s put in a battling performance again Celbridge. We had an early score on the board in the opening minutes from Josh O Rourke. With a new midfield pairing of Sean Casey and the returning Niamh Gleeson putting in a strong performance in midfield we were giving as good as we were getting. Unfortunately a head injury to centre back Seamie Fitzpatrick weakened us further coming up to half time with young Oscar Law deputising at centre back and going on to have a superb game. Points from Celbridge as the half ended gave them an advantage at halftime.
The send half saw the introduction of Sam Worrell, Ross Kenny and Cameron Kavanagh as subs. Kildangan battled hard and were rewarded with an Oisin McWey point. Man of the match Daragh Coughlan, Aidan Casey and Senan O Tuama stood out at the back and worked hard to keep us in the game. Sophie Stynes and Sophie Murray got on plenty of ball in the forward line but Celbridge ran out winners despite a battling performance. With the return of some players to the squad our first win of the league must be just around the corner.
We train again on monday night from 7 to 8 where we will have former county star Tadgh Fennin taking the session so a big turnout is expected.
