Abby Rangers 2-06 Naas 4-10
Abbey Rangers U16’s are well defeated for the first time in this league campaign by a very well prepared Naas team.
The first 10 minutes saw neither side get a shot off as the defences were well set. Finally the Abbey Rangers side broke through to register 2 points in succession before Naas were awarded a penalty.
Abbey Rangers went ahead in the 2nd quarter but a second goal from Naas saw them lead at half time 1-05 to 2-04.
Naas started the second half the stronger, quickly registering 2 more points, but a cracking goal from Darragh Whyte, his second of the night, a point from Devan Abbey and two brilliant saves from Tadhg Perry saw Abbey Rangers level going into the fourth quarter.
Unfortunately it was down hill from there from there, Naas scored a further 2-04 with no reply from Abbey Rangers to suffer their first defeat of the season.
A well organised Naas team on the night who set up a swarm defence on every Abbey Rangers attack deserved their win.
The best performances on the night for Abbey Rangers were Devan Abbey in Mid field, Alex Cullen in Mid field and Tadhg Perry in goal.
