St Laurences 0-6 Kildangan 5-3

A first-half hat-trick of goals by Casey McEvoy MacCullagh put Kildangan one step away from winning their group of the Summer League in greasy conditions in St Laurences on Friday night. It was Kildangan's quick start that was the real difference between the sides in the end as Kildangan had 3-1 on the board before St Laurences registered their first score. A Jack Fitzpatrick goal was sandwiched between two poachers goals from Casey McEvoy MacCullagh. A further point was hit from Casey before St Laurence's got off the mark with two points. Kildangan missed a host of scoring opportunities to really have been out of sight during this period of the game. Just before half-time Casey hit his third goal of the half and scoring was brought to a close with a nice point from Oisin McWey. This left a half-time score of St Laurences 0-2 Kildangan 4-2.

Kildangan began the second half on the back foot as St Laurences hit the opening two points of the second half. Kildangan's performance dropped in intensity with St Laurences starting to get a real foothold in the game. Luckily for Kildangan they hadn't brought their shooting boots and a mixture of poor shot selection and good goalkeeping by Aidan Casey kept Kildangan comfortably ahead. Sophie Murray gave Kildangan back their half-time cushion with a goal midway through the half. St Lauences kicked another two points, one either side of a Casey McEvoy MacCullagh point. This was Kildangan's only point of the second half. This left a full time score of St Laurences 0-6 Kildangan 5-3.

Kildangan will be happy to have put themselves into a winner takes all clash with Athgarvan in two weeks time. Kildangan know they cant let their performance drop off in the second half against Athgarvan. Best for Kildangan on the night were Aidan Casey in goals , Sophie Stynes, Seamie Fitzpatrick and Senan O'Tuama in the backs with Jack Fitzpatrick, Sophie Murray and Casey McEvoy MacCullagh showing well further up the field.
