Kildangan GAA are delighted to announce the return of our 2024 management team for the 2025 season.
Liam O’Donovan, Gabriel Murtagh and Fergal Gilbert will all resume their roles managing and coaching our senior team in this year’s Senior Football League Divison 4 and Junior Championship. Leaving the reserve leagues for Senior League and Junior Championship is a massive step up from the 2024 season but it is something that the players have been working towards these last 2 years and feel they are ready to make the jump out of the reserve leagues.
Liam O’Donovan hails from Cork and has coached several teams at underage level with Kildangan and Abbey Ranger. He has also coached with Kildangan/Nurney. He played for his home club Tadhg MacCarthaigh GAA in Cork where he won several underage titles before coming to Kildare to become an apprentice farrier and now a master farrier. He also rode as an amateur jockey for a while. His two daughters, Orla & Nora, played for Kildangan and his son Mark is Kildangan’s star player having won 2024 player of the year and also representing Kildare at minor level.
Gabriel Murtagh has won a Junior A championship with his home club of Moynalty in Meath, doing so as the youngest player on the pitch at just 17 years of age. He was also selected for the Meath minor panel. He has also won a Junior B & C title playing for Kildangan. Gabriel is currently Sales Director with Gowan Homes, Ireland’s largest appliance distributor. His two sons, Stephen and Cian, are current senior players with Kildangan.
Fergal Gilbert has coached teams at every age group in the club and also coached for Kildangan/Nurney. Fergal is originally from Dublin and played football for Synge Street. He moved to England in his early 20s and came back to Ireland in his early 30s. Fergal is currently Supply Chain Manager with Milish Foods. His son Daniel was our 2024 senior captain and his daughter Lara has played with the Kildare Ladies for several years.
