Kildangan u12s travelled to Suncroft this evening in round 2 of the u12 summer league
We were missing 5/6 of the regular starting team due to holidays.
We knew we had a huge task ahead of us against newly promoted Suncroft in a 13 aside game.
The game didn't disappoint. Absolute cracker of a game between two evenly matched teams.
Superb goalkeeping by Leon kept Kildangan in the game and excellent defending & blocking from Aidan at full back. While Sean, Jack & Abigail picked up a lot of breaking ball in defence
Ollie helped out our midfielders, Sam & Lucy, as Ollie put in a brilliant performance and supplied the forwards with great passes.
Young Conor Hogan worked hard in corner forward and was unlucky not to convert a score.
Both Tadhg and Conor Gilroy tried their best up front but Suncroft were able to get the big tackles in at key moments. Our vital goals were scored by Emily & Cameron.
With no subs on a warm evening, Suncroft had the upper hand. They were able to hold on and come away with the win. Only one point in the difference
Kildangan can be very proud of themselves. Especially a number of players, including; Ollie, Emily & Leon, but Cameron Kavanagh led the forwards from the start & produced a player of match performance.
Starting team:
Leon Christoph
Aidan Casey
Tadhg Adams,
Ollie Mahon,
Sean Gleeson
Lucy Masey
Sam worrell (0-1)
Abigail Fenlon
Emily Lawlor (3-0)
Cameron Kavanagh (2-2)
Jack Ryan
Conor Hogan
Conor Gilroy
