Abbey Rangers Open the League Campaign with Comfortable Win

Abbey Rangers opened their league campaign in style with a convincing victory over Raheens this evening at Stephen O'Rourke Memorial Park in Ballykelly.

Abbey Rangers got off to the perfect start when Dan Delaney opened the scoring with a well-taken point. Raheens responded quickly to level the game, but Rangers soon took control. A superb delivery from Dan found Tadhg Casey, who finished to the net for the opening goal. Jack O’Toole then burst forward to raise another green flag and extend the lead.

Raheens struck back with a goal of their own, but Rangers continued to apply pressure. Evan Brett added a point before Tadhg grabbed his second goal of the half. Raheens managed another point, but strong defensive work allowed Tomas to break forward to set up Ben Franey to find the net.
Tomas then added a point to cap off an excellent first-half display. Just before the break, Staffy produced a superb save to deny Raheens and leave the half-time score at an impressive 4-3 to 1-3 in favour of Abbey Rangers.

Abbey Rangers continued their dominance after the interval. Tadhg opened the second-half scoring with a fine point. Evan & Billy Reidy kicked excellent points.
While further goals from Dan, Tadhg, and Evan sealed a comprehensive win and an ideal start to the league campaign.

The defensive unit was outstanding throughout, superbly marshalled by Jamie Whiteley, with Lucas and Scott also putting in strong performances. Evan and Dan were excellent in midfield, while Tomas, Jack and Tadhg were particularly impressive in attack.

A great team performance and a promising start to the season for Abbey Rangers
