Abbey Rangers U14s booked their place in the league semi-final with a hard-fought away victory over Rathangan in difficult wet and windy conditions.

Rangers made a strong start, with Oisin McWey opening the scoring from a free before Cameron followed up with a well-taken goal. Oisin then added another point from play. Rathangan responded well, making full use of the wind to score a goal and a point, reducing the deficit to just a single point.

Solid defending from Daragh and Oscar helped Rangers regain control, allowing Cameron to strike for his second goal of the game. Further points from Oisin, Brendan (0-2) and Sam left Rangers leading 2-5 to 1-2 at half-time.

The second half began positively with the wind at Rangers' backs, and Zach got the opening score after the restart. Rangers dominated from there, with excellent points from Fionn (0-2), Daragh, Oisin (0-2), Cameron, Senan while Josh added a well-taken goal.

Up front, Zach worked tirelessly throughout, creating numerous scoring opportunities for his teammates, while Oisin continued his fine form with another strong all-round performance.

At the back, Senan, Seamie and Daragh were outstanding, helping to keep Rathangan at bay throughout the second half. Daragh's all-round display earned him another well-deserved Man of the Match award.
