2026 marks 25 years of Kildangan GAA, and we're marking the occasion with two events for the whole club and community. We want as many of you as possible at both — so read on for what's happening, and what we need from you to make each one a huge success.
Festival of Football + BBQ — Saturday 12th September ( note changed from a different proposed day)
When: Saturday 12th September, 1:45pm – 6:00pm Where: More O'Ferrall Park Cost: Free — no charge for this event
The idea is simple: a fun day where everyone in the club gets to play a bit of football and spend some time together, whatever age or ability — even if you haven't played in 20 years or ever! . This isn't just a training session or a match day, it's a celebration, and we want the whole club on the pitch across the afternoon.
How the day runs:
- 1:45pm — Under 6s skills demonstration
- From 2:15pm — U7–U12 mixed games (roll on/roll off, youngest age groups first)
- Continuing on — U13–U18 mixed games (roll on/roll off)
- Later in the afternoon — Adult mixed match, open to everyone
- Around 5:45pm — Whole-club photo
Coordinators have been appointed for each of our groupings and are working with coaches to sort the format and numbers for their age group, so expect to hear more from your coach directly.
Expect a bit of craic along the way too — fancy dress, water balloons, and a few surprise twists are all on the cards for some of the games.
Food will be served from around 3pm, running through the afternoon, and we're asking as many families as possible to bring a homemade cake or treat for the table — the more the better!
Playing in the adult game? You don't need to have played before, or even be able to stay for the whole thing — if you can give even 5 minutes, we want you out there. Let your child's coach know, or if you're not otherwise connected to a team, email kildangan1925@gmail.com.
What you need to do:
- Tell your coach your child is going
- Tell your coach if you'd like to play in the adult game — even if it's only for 5 minutes
- Bring a cake or treat for the table if you can
- Just turn up and enjoy the day — no need to book
The more of you who let your coach know you're coming, the better we can plan the day — so please don't be shy about it, even a rough headcount helps enormously.
25th Anniversary Dinner Dance — Saturday 10th October
When: Saturday 10th October, 7:30pm Where: The Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge Cost: €50 per person
This is our first Dinner Dance in over 10 years, and it's a big one — a night to bring the whole club and village together under one roof. Kildangan GAA has always been a meeting point for our community, especially for the many families who've made the village home in recent years, and this is our chance to properly celebrate that together: players and club members past and present, neighbours old and new, all in the one room for a night of food, music and dancing.
What you need to do:
- Purchase a ticket ( €50.00 each) on the website for yourself, family and friends — Kildangan Dinner Dance Tickets
- Turn up on the night and enjoy a great night out - This is an adult only event.
Tickets are live on the website now, and will also be available from committee members in the coming week or so.
Let's make this one to remember
Twenty-five years is a huge milestone for any club, and we want to mark it properly — with as many of you as possible on the pitch on 12th September, and as many of you as possible on the dance floor on 10th October. Get the dates in the diary, spread the word, and let's fill both days out.
