What started as a football trip to Parteen-Meelick quickly turned into something resembling a mixture of Match of the Day, Survivor, and an episode of Bear Grylls!
The U14 boys put in a fantastic shift on the pitch, playing a competitive match and showing great teamwork, determination and spirit. They worked hard for each other and were a credit to their team.
Then it was off to Killaloe Adventure Park, where the boys tackled the obstacle course on the lake. Coach Padraig and mentor Barry bravely joined them, both having to keep their wits about them as they negotiated the obstacles. There were some impressive feats of balance, bravery and, in a few cases, controlled falling!
After all that excitement, the team settled into the nearby hostel — where the next challenge began. Finding your sleeping bag sounds easy enough, until you're faced with a pile of identical bags and suddenly can't remember what you brought. Thankfully, the boys managed to survive the hostel experience and even fend for themselves when it came to food, with a local takeaway coming to the rescue.

And just when everyone thought the challenges were over, the boys decided to channel their inner Wim Hof and take on a couple of cold plunges in the lake. Apparently, normal temperatures were simply not challenging enough!
Throughout the trip, the boys were an absolute credit to their families. They showed excellent manners, respect and appreciation towards all the mentors who gave up their time to be with them. They also cleaned up after themselves and left the hostel tidy — proving that miracles really do happen on football trips!
The following morning, they were treated to an excellent feast for breakfast, expertly prepared by Karen and Catherine and sponsored by Worrell's Gala. It was very much appreciated after a night of adventure, obstacle courses and where bedtime seemed to be interpreted as ...relocate the conversation to the bedroom!!😅
