What a game! With the top two teams going head-to-head in a top-of-the-table decider, the stage was set for a cracker — and the girls certainly didn’t disappoint.
From the first whistle, it was clear this was going to be a closely fought contest, with great skill, determination and attacking football on show from both sides. The game was end-to-end, with neither team willing to give an inch.
The Ballymore goalkeeper was outstanding throughout the first half, pulling off some massive saves to keep her team in the game. Trinity Gaels continued to press, with great scores from Hollie, Evarose, Sophie and Annie.
At the other end, there was some fantastic defensive work from Niamh, Abdgial, Lilly, Catherine, Sarajane and Sophie, who worked tirelessly to put pressure on the Ballymore attack, win back possession and keep the girls in the contest. Their tackling, tracking and determination were brilliant to watch
At half-time, there was absolutely nothing between the teams, with the scoreboard reading 2-4 apiece — a perfect reflection of just how competitive the first half had been.
Trinity Gaels came out the stronger side after the break, showing great energy and determination. The girls began to find their rhythm and got their names on the scoreboard, with Sarajane, Ella, Evarose, Brooke, Sophie and Aoibhan all contributing.
Every girl played her part, with brilliant teamwork, work rate and skill carrying Trinity Gaels through a fantastic second half.
The final result saw Trinity Gaels come out on top, but the scoreboard certainly doesn't tell the full story. This was a closely fought encounter from start to finish, with both teams showing exactly why they are at the top of the table.
