U16’s put on a great display for a convincing win over neighbouring Monastrevin 2-15 to 1-09.
It was Abbey Rangers who went into an early lead of 1-01 before Monastrevin opened their account with 2 points. Monastrevin were then awarded a penalty for a foot block in the small square which was dispatched to the back of the net.
From here it was Abbey Rangers that had the better exchanges and led at half time 1-07 to 1-04.
The start of the second half saw Monastrevin put pressure on the Abbey Rangers defence to score some very well taken points but Abbey Rangers always showed their superiority and clocked up some stunning scores with their devastating attack.
Stand out players on the night were Tadhg Perry in goals who made two fine goal line saves at critical times when Monastrevin were pressing hard. The full back line of Ben O’Connor and Jake O’Rourke who had to work very hard to keep Monastrevin out. The midfield partnership of Brody Dunne and Oisin O’Reilly both had outstanding games with Brody having a man of the match performance.
Up front the main attack came from Devan Abbey, Tomas Dunne, Calum Walsh and Kevin Nolan who all put in good performances to delivered the impressive scoreline.
