U12 Life Credit Union Div. 6
Kilcock 1-4 Kildangan 0-4
On a bitterly cold evening in Kilcock our U12's put in their best performance of the year so far with a display that warmed the hearts of all those present. Kilcock were out of the traps early and playing with confidence, they had a point on the board in the opening minutes. To our credit we dug-in the middle third with Jack Fitz, Casey McEvoy MacCullagh and Oscar Law very prominent. Such was the competitive nature of the game, the score remained 0-1 to 0-0 for almost twenty minutes. Aidan Casey kept Kildangan in the game with several important saves. Then in the final minutes of the half scoring burst into life, firstly Jack Fitz drew Kildangan level. A burst up the middle by Kilcock wasn't dealt with which resulted in a goal against the run of play for Kilcock. Kildangan answered immediately before half-time with a great point by Oisin McWey following good work by Jake Curran. This left the half-time score 1-1 to 0-2 to Kilcock.
The second half restarted in the same vein as the first with scores and frees very hard to come by for both sides. The Kildangan full back line of Alice Mahon, Annabelle Torpey and Abigail Fenlon were rock solid dealing with anything that came their way. Séamie Fitz had his hands full with the Kilcock dangerman but was keeping him quiet. Zak McNamara and Tommy Donoher replaced Sam Worrell and Josh O Rourke in the forward line with fresh legs and were showing well. Points from Kilcock and points by Jack Fitz (0-2) kept the gap to a minimum but the goal we required never came despite Kildangan going close on more than one occasion. With Senan O Tuama, Sean Casey and Darragh Coughlan driving us forward Kildangan laid siege to the Kilcock goal in the dying minutes with a shot being blocked on the line with time just up. Time ran out but everyone can be very proud of their effort against a strong Kilcock side.
