Last night the Kildangan’s Annual General Meeting took place. There was a somewhat larger crowd than usual which was great to see.
As mentioned by, now former chairman, Declan McGrath it was possibly the most successful year in the club’s history and saved the committee from having to “sugar coat” the review of the year.
The main act of business for the meeting was the changing of the guard as Declan McGrath steeped down as chairman after 6 years and Luke Sweeney was elected chairman. Tyrone native, Elaine O’Connell was welcomed onto the committee and will be a massive contribution going forward.
A secretary, treasurer, PRO, juvenile and chairman report were all read out by the respective people.
Gabriel Murtagh, secretary, thanked his fellow committee members for their work throughout the year and also gave mention to the success of the senior team being a big boost to the club. He thanked outgoing chairman, Declan McGrath, for his work down through the years and also spoke of how the club is gaining a great reputation for being a “well ran club” thanks to the hard work of it’s committee members.
Eoin O’Tuama, treasurer, gave the rundown on the finances with the club sitting in a stable position and the influx of the allocated funding from grants will be discussed and explained further in a separate post as to what we are able to spend it on.
Rory McGrath (me), PRO, gave mention to how well the social media is running. If you’re reading this then I’ll take my opportunity to thank everyone who helps in promoting the club by liking and reposting our content.
Martina Casey gave the juvenile report and informed those in attendance about how the different teams got on in 2024 with a special mention to the u12 who reached a county final.
Declan McGrath, outgoing chairman, thanked his secretary Gabriel Murtagh for all the work he has done alongside him down through the years. He thanked his fellow committee members for their help throughout the past few years and gave a rundown on how far the club has come thanks to the committee’s work.
The incoming chairman, Luke Sweeney gave a very motivating speech to his fellow committee members about capitalising on the momentum within the club at the moment. He thanked Declan for his work throughout the years and spoke of how he looks forward to his new role.
The reports will be made available in the next few hours and posted online. An end of year review will be post before, you guessed it, the end of the year. Separate posts will also be going up about our outgoing and incoming chairmen. So keep an eye out.
