Life Credit Union U16 Football Championship Div.4 Rd.1
St. Laurence’s 3.13 - 3.08 Abbey Rangers
13th February
On a bitterly cold evening Abbey Rangers got their 2025 season up and running away to St. Lauerence’s in round 1 of the league.
Abbey Rangers dominated the first half with a brilliant display of football. They raced into a 2-4 to 0-3 lead in the first 20 mins with great display from Daniel Delaney in full forward scoring 2-2 from play. Young Tadgh Casey added another 2 points from his first start for the u16s. Brody Dunne got a wonderfull 2 pointer from outside the arc just before half time. Abbey Rangers went into half time with a 2-8 to 0-7 lead.
In the second half St. Laurence’s started well, rattling off some nice points from play and a goal just after the start. They got another goal from a penelty which really settled them down and were on top most of the 2nd half. They had a 6 point lead with 15 mins to go and Abbey Rangers just seemed to run out of steam. 10 mins from the end, a couple of late scores from Abbey Rangers just came too late. A lovely taken goal from young Jack O’Toole wasnt enough for them with the match ending 3-14 to 3-10 to St Lawerances.
A lovely game of football from both sides and Abbey Rangers will be looking forward to this week’s match away to Carbury and should be a lot sharper from this game.
